About Ruthie V.

Ruthie paints raw gestural works on canvas, panel, and paper. She studied art in Italy, apprenticed in Japan, graduated from WCC with honors, and earned a BA in painting from WWU.

Ruthie was voted Bellingham’s Best Artist by readers of the Cascadia Weekly in 2008, and received the People’s Choice Award at the Plein Air Paint Out in 2008.

Recent exhibitions include: a collaborative show "Leave My Shoes by the Door" with Kuntz and Company (2011), Fate of the Forest (group show 2011) at the Whatcom Museum, Figures (solo show 2011) at Shift Gallery Seattle, Work (solo show 2010) and Humanity of Land (solo show 2008) at Smith & Vallee Gallery in Edison, Size Matters at Works on Canvas Bellingham (group show 2010), Four Seasons (group show curated by Ruthie V. 2010), and Place (solo show 2009) at Blue Horse Gallery Bellingham.

She currently lives in Bow, Washington.
